A Penobscot County Grand Jury on Wednesday indicted a Brewer man on charges he sexually abused a young girl.

Ronald Boersma, 37, faces four counts of unlawful sexual contact, thee counts of unlawful sexual touching and two counts of gross sexual assault.

Boersma is employed at a local bakery and is a convicted sex offender. He also was convicted of possessing child pornography in 2003 during court martial proceedings while serving in the Navy out of state.

Boersma was one of 52 people indicted by the grand jury on Wednesday. A grand jury does not determine guilt or innocence. Instead, its members determine if the prosecution has enough evidence to proceed to trial.
