A Gorham man has become the 28th person to die in a motorcycle accident in Maine this year.

CBS 13 reports 24-year-old Kevin Coppersmith was killed when he crashed his motorcycle at the intersection of Windham Center and Ward roads in Windham Tuesday night.

The Windham Police Department says officers caught Coppersmith speeding on Route 302 and he crashed before they could pull him over.

Investigators are working to determine if alcohol played a role in the accident.

It’s the 28th deadly motorcycle crash in the state this year, the most since 1991, when 34 people were killed in motorcycle accidents.
