A Maine citizen who has dedicated his life to remembering Veterans and honoring their memory is being honored, himself, by the Army. Morrill Worcester, founder of the charity 'Wreaths Across America' is being honored by the military for his contributions.

Worcester Wreath Company is located in Harrington, Maine. Throughout the year, they tend to a 4,000 acre forest, in preparation for the holiday season. And when it's time, WWC offers quality wreaths, balsam, trees, centerpieces, and more to buyers across the country.

But it's their charity that has gained the company all the acclaim. Morrill Worcester made his first trip to Washington, D. C. when he was 10 years old and the impression it made on him stuck. In 1992, according to the company's website, Worcester found he had a surplus of wreaths and remembering his trip to Arlington National Cemetary, he made arrangements to take them there. And other organizations and businesses stepped up to help when they heard what Worcester had in mind.

As the mission, and its support, grew, Worcester and others formed 'Wreaths Across America' as a charity in 2007. And now, a procession of trucks and other vehicles make the annual pilgrimage to pay homage to the men and women who spent part, or all of their lives, in service to our country.

Now, the military is saying thanks. Morrill Worcester is due to receive the Army's Outstanding Civilian Service Award Tuesday at Fort Myer, outside Washington, D.C. It's the Army's third highest honor for civilian public service.

Television host and political commentator Stephen Colbert will also receive the award for his contributions and fundraising efforts for the care of wounded veterans, along with Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig, former United Parcel Service CEO Scott Davis, and the COO of J.P. Morgan Chase, Matthew Zames.

We here at Townsquare Media would like to offer our congratulations to Mr. Worcester for his patriotism and generosity over these many years. It's wonderful to see the nation taking notice and recognizing you for your efforts. You've done Maine...and your country....proud.
