Drug Agents Arrest Man Bringing Heroin to Maine From Massachusetts

Maine Drug Enforcement Agents arrested a Maine man this week, after learning that he was making frequent trips to Massachusetts, for the purpose of bringing heroin into the state. He would then divide it up, repackage it, and sell it in Maine.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the MDEA York District Task Force has been working on the investigation with Kittery Police. When they learned that Cole Dalton, age 29 of Wells, was making another trip to Massachusetts, police and agents conducted surveillance on I-95 and Route 236 in Wells to intercept him on his return trip.

Police stopped Dalton’s vehicle around 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Kittery without incident. A Saco Police Department drug dog helped search the car and found 18 grams of suspected heroin with a street value of $3,000. Dalton was arrested and taken to the York County Jail where bail was set at $30,000.

Agents then searched Dalton’s apartment and found more evidence of drug trafficking. The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are anticipated.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency is committed to working collaboratively with all state, local and federal agencies; to identify and disrupt drug trafficking in our communities. If you have information about this incident or any illegal sale of drugs, you are urged to contact any MDEA office or the MDEA tip-line at 800-452-6457
