Driver Running A Stop Sign Causes Head-On Crash

No one was seriously injured when a car that ran a stop sign in Newport hit another vehicle head-on.

WABI-TV reports the accident happened just after 4:00 Sunday afternoon on the County Woods Road in Newport. A car driven by 19-year-old Patrick Delano of Glenburn failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with Route 7 and hit an SUV driven by 83-year-old Viola Mayhew of Corinna.

Delano had three juvenile passengers in his vehicle at the time of the accident. Everyone involved was treated at the scene for minor injuries. The teen is charged with failure to stop at a stop sign.
