The State Medical Examiner's Office has ruled that the death of a man who fell from a window at Maine Medical Center was accidental.

43-year-old Paul Cady died on March 29th, when he either fell or jumped from a window in his hospital room. He was being treated for brain injuries he'd sustained in a motorcycle accident in early March. At one point, prior to his death, he'd been put into an induced coma and had used a breathing tube.

Family members have told the Portland Press Herald that they don't believe Cady committed suicide, but that he was disoriented because of his injuries. They say that they believe he was just trying any means to get home and became confused.

This week, the State Medical Examiner's office ruled that Cady's death was accidental and that the cause of death was 'extensive blunt impact trauma.' They have not commented further about what caused them to rule the death an accident.

The State Department of Health and Human Services' Division of LIcensing and Regulatory Services is still investigating the man's death. WABI-TV reports that the family has retained a lawyer.
