What an incredible boost this Waterfront Concert Series has been for music in Bangor! I love the shows, including some that aren't country! And sometimes I take for granted the fact that I see more concerts than a lot of people...just because of my job.

So I wanted to offer up some tips on attending a Waterfront Concert, for anyone who may be visiting for the first time. First of all, if you plan to drink, bring your ID! I know, I know, you're saying "I have gray hair! I have grandchildren!" Doesn't matter. They will ask you for your ID no matter what your age. And hey...just enjoy it! When was the last time you were carded?

They're not going to let you bring your cooler into the show. It's an outdoor concert, but it's definitely not a byob. And if you walk all the way from the parking garage with your cooler, they WILL make you take it back. They won't watch it for you until after the show. Same goes for pets. They're not going to let them into the concert, even if you bought Fido a ticket.

Chairs are another thing that you can't bring with you. If you bought a lawn ticket, you're most likely going to have to stand. Some people will bring a blanket and sit on the ground....but if you do that, be prepared not to be able to see. Everyone stands.Of course, there's always that guy who puts his girlfriend on his shoulders so no one behind them can see. Yeah. We all hate those guys.

Getting back to the alcohol subject, if you don't have a wristband, you won't get a drink. Period. There are no exceptions to this. Kudos to the folks working on alcohol enforcement at these shows. It's NOT an easy job and yet they do it very well.

Oh...and if you see THIS guy and he asks to take your picture? Let him! His name's Jeff Kirlin and he posts tons of really great pictures on Facebook!

Finally, Sunday is going to be an all-day festival, with bands on the smaller stage beginning at 1. Although it's a festival atmosphere, it's still a concert Once you enter the gate, you're in. They won't let you run back to your car, or run home for dinner, and come back. No reentry. So bring your jacket with you...which is an excellent idea because the waterfront can get pretty chilly this time of year!

We hope we see you at the Waterfront Pavilion this weekend for one or both of the shows! It's going to be the best party all summer!
