The criminal case against a former Waterville Senior High School teacher accused of asking a student for sex was dropped Thursday after he agreed to surrender his teaching credentials.

Don Reiter, 45, who was fired in Nov. 2015, had been facing a charge of official oppression.

He was placed on administrative leave in Sept. 2015, after an 18-year-old student accused him of asking her for sex on Aug. 27, 2015, the first day of school.

Waterville police said similar allegations were made against Reiter by two former students at Mascenic Regional High School in New Ipswich, New Hampshire, where Reiter worked from 1998 to 2004.

The dismissal document filed in the court says Reiter “has agreed to permanently surrender his Department of Education credentials,” meaning he can no longer work as a teacher or as an administrator.
