Horses seem like a natural fit for a Civil War Memorial, so this weekend an organization that helps horses and their owners will be set up at Fort Knox. Last Stop Horse Rescue will have miniature horses and plenty of literature about the organization, Saturday and Sunday.
If you've listened to my show over the past few months, you've probably heard me talk about my puppy Copernicus. One woman recently told me it's like listening to stories from "The Big Red Dog" with all the adventures and mischief that Pernicus gets into! I've had some questions lately about details about my pup, so I thought I'd address them here.
It's a fact of life. Dogs LOVE sticks! Pernicus is no exception. And he's ambitious, usually choosing sticks that seem much too big for him. But even he knows enough to pick sticks that aren't still attached to the tree! Unlike this puppy, who is determined to get the stick of her choosing!
My son's fiance once directed a play that centered around a dog, portrayed by an actress. It was funny on stage when the "dog" walked in circles before lying down, or rubbed her head against her owner's legs. But think about it...how creepy would it be if our pets were actually human? Watching you shower...go to the bathroom....etc? This video gives you a good idea of just how weird that would be.
For any dog owner who has not yet taken their beloved canine to the Bangor Dog Park, you should check it out! It's great to teach socializing skills to your dog...and to give you the chance to talk about dogs with other Mommies and Daddies! We took Pernicus on Sunday and he loved it!
The first time a pet catches their own reflection is always funny. Pernicus will bark at his reflection in the mirror. Although, to be honest, we're not sure if he's barking at himself or at me standing behind him! This cat doesn't say a word....but is obviously fascinated by what she sees!
The Grand in Ellsworth is going to the dogs...for one night, at least! The Stunt Dog Experience will perform at the Grand in downtown Ellsworth on April 11th, with proceeds to benefit the SPCA of Hancock County
I love our puppy and I have to admit, going out to play with him is one of my favorite things to do. I can't wait for warm weather and green grass when we can really enjoy the outdoors! But in all my years of having dogs, I don't think I've ever had THIS much fun going for a walk!
