Date Night Tonight in Bucksport & It’s a Fundraiser Too
What are you doing tonight? Think I just asked you out. Make it a date night tonight at The Alamo Theatre in Bucksport.
The event raises money for the new Orland outdoor pickleball courts.
The fundraiser is from 5 to 9 pm tonight and it is at The Alamo Theatre on Main Street in Bucksport. Yes, there is a movie, but there is lots more too. Admission is $25 per person and there is food, and a romantic movie. Of course, there’s popcorn. It's movie night.
They will also be selling raffles tickets for prizes from local businesses, and unique handcrafted items, and have a silent auction.
And all to benefit the new outdoor pickleball courts at the Orland Community Center on Schoolhouse Road.
Jack Anderson is one of the volunteers, and he and his wife Dee learned pickleball at the Orland Community and Fitness Center when they retired, and they play whenever they can.
These new outdoor courts will allow more opportunity to get out there and play. Our group of players want to pitch in to help the OCFC make these outdoor courts a reality.
Jack continued with words that many say that have been bitten by the pickleball craze:
Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the country. And that includes Hancock County. These outdoor courts will give the public a place to learn the sport and to play.
Maybe pickleball is the uniting factor for all of us. It certainly is a part of community. And it keeps all moving, healthy and happy.
Jack gets the last word:
This fundraiser tonight will be a fun time and a great way to show support for this project. Join us at the Alamo Theatre in Bucksport.
