The town of Orrington is rallying around Fire Chief Mike Spencer. He was seriously hurt in a fall at his home and has a long recovery ahead. Now the community is coming together in support of Mike and his family with a spaghetti dinner and more!

Mike fell from a ladder while working on a project at home on September 4th. The fall caused several broken ribs, a broken scapula, blown ear drum, and many more injuries. He's out of the hospital now, after a five day stay, but he's still recovering. And he's still out of work.

So the members of the Orrington Fire Department are showing their support with a spaghetti dinner on Sunday, October 21st from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Center Drive School in Orrington. The menu will include spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, dessert and beverages. They're also working on a silent auction and raffle for the evening.

I worked in Orrington for years, and now I call it home. I've met Chief Spencer many times and I know his family. This is a man who's dedicated to his community and to his family.  Now it's time to come together and help him. For more information or if you have a donation for the auction, check out the event page on Facebook or call his son Greg at 974-9791.

Get better soon, Chief!
