A downtown Bangor restaurant is back open after a fire broke out in a ventilation shaft at the business on Wednesday.

The fire at the Blaze restaurant in West Market Square damaged the ventilation shaft and a grill used to cook burgers and steaks, reports the Bangor Daily News.

Owner Matt Haskell told the Bangor Daily News that the restaurant reopened at 5 p.m. on Thursday, and they're currently using a replacement grill from another part of the kitchen.

He hopes to have the ventilation shaft and the grill repaired next week.

Haskell thanked the Bangor Fire Department for their quick response and his staff for helping him get the business back open in less than 30 hours.

No injuries were reported in Wednesday's fire.
