Augusta Woman Stabbed to Death

Police are investigating the stabbing death of a young woman in Augusta.

Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland says Jillian Jones, 24, was found dead in her apartment last night from stab wounds and police are treating the case as a homicide.

38 year old Justin Pillsbury is being treated currently for what appear to be self-inflicted stab wounds according to McCausland. Investigators hope to interview him as soon as his condition improves.

The incident was apparently reported by a friend of Pillsbury’s.

McCausland says the couple had recently moved into the apartment and had been involved with each other for the past two years.

Jones grew up in Bingham and was studying to be a beautician in Waterville.  Pillsbury has lived in Augusta in recent years and is employed as a road construction flagger.
