Police believe the driver of a tractor trailer fell asleep before his rig ran off the interstate. The driver wasn't injured but his rig was destroyed.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release that the tractor trailer was loaded with 90,000 pounds of lumber. It was around 6 o'clock this morning when the truck, operated by 32-year-old John Rancourt of Jay, ran off I-95 at mile 115 in Sidney and slammed into a rock ledge.

Nearly all of the wood broke loose from the trailer. Both truck and trailer were demolished but Rancourt was unhurt. Police shut down the travel lane while the wood was recovered and the wreck removed. The lane reopened just after noon.

Troopers reviewed the driver's commercial paperwork and no violations were found.
