On November 3, 2021, the Water District took to social media, explaining on its Facebook Page, that they were starting a project and that as a result, customers might see some discoloration in their water for a few months.

"Ozone is used in our water treatment process to remove color from your water. We want to assure you that your water is safe to drink and meets all water quality standards. We apologize for any discoloration you may experience during this time."

Initially, the Water District had hoped to have the project completed by mid-February, but shipment delays of important building equipment needed for the upgrade have set that date back by a bit.

According to the General Manager of Bangor Water, Kathy Moriarty, while part of the issue was due to normal project delays, it also took a little while for all of the stainless steel parts, needed for the upgrade, to arrive in Bangor.

"Mostly it has been, you know, just where we see everywhere else, being able to get building materials. Building materials have had longer delays than we expected."

"Everything has now been installed. We're waiting for some of the computer programs for the monitoring and operation of that equipment. Once the programming is done, then we'll train our people, and then we can start treating with our new ozone."

"We're hoping to get everything up and going and started and people should be back to our new ozonated system by late April."
