A Waterboro man, who was sought by police on multiple arrest warrants, was taken into custody this week after a traffic stop.

Maine State Police say Darren Foglio, 51 of Waterboro, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop on South Waterboro Road in Lyman on Tuesday. Foglio had 4 active warrants for his arrest, and is now facing new charges. At the time of his arrest, Foglio had several sets of bail conditions that prohibited him from using or possessing alcohol or illegal drugs, and required him to submit to random searches and testing.

Once Foglio was taken into custody, Troopers searched his car and found alcohol and drugs. He was transported to the York County Jail, where he was told of new charges against him, including unlawful possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a Schedule W drug, and 11 counts of violating conditions of release. Officials say he will also be indicted for unlawful possession of morphine. Foglio is being held without bail on the new criminal charges.

As a result of the traffic stop, Foglio's sister was also arrested. Denise Higgins-Foglio, 55 of Waterboro was driving the motor vehicle and so was charged with hindering apprehension of prosecution. She was transported to the York County Jail, where she posted bail and was released.
