Vassalboro Heroin and Cocaine Bust Nets Three Arrests
A New York man and a Vassalboro woman are facing charges in Kennebec County for allegedly selling drugs.
Late Wednesday afternoon, Maine Drug Enforcement agents and Augusta Police detectives arrested Sarah Fuschwanz in Vassalboro on aggravated drug trafficking charges related to an investigation involving the sale of heroin. She was located as she was driving away from her home, with two passengers in the car with her.
Investigators took Fuschwanz into custody and searched the car. As a result of that search, officials seized approximately 80 grams of crack cocaine, 10 grams of heroin, 10 grams of powdered cocaine along with Suboxone, which is a prescription drug used, generally, in the treatment of opiate addiction. The street value of the drugs seized is about $10,000. Agents also confiscated approximately $3,250 in cash, suspected to be the proceeds of illegal drug sales.
Three people were arrested, as a result of that search and were taken to Kennebec County Jail:
- 51-year-old Andre Fields of the Bronx, New York is charged with 2 counts of aggravated trafficking in crack and heroin. The charges were elevated due to the amount of drugs seized and because Fields has at least one prior felony drug trafficking conviction.
- 33-year-old Sarah Fuschwanz of Vassalboro is charged with 2 counts of aggravated trafficking in crack and heroin and 2 counts of violation of conditions of release, for the drugs seized from her car. In addition, she was also charged with 2 separate counts of trafficking in schedule W drugs by the Augusta Police Department based on the earlier investigation related to the sale of heroin.
- 33-year-old Tania Murphy of Hallowell was arrested on an outstanding warrant for violations of conditions of release. Murphy was a passenger in the car.
