The illicit drug, heroin, is finding its way back into neighborhoods all across the country in epidemic proportions, and drug agents know why. Oxycodone, the once must-have pharmaceutical in pop culture drug abuse, has become too expensive for most addicts. But heroin costs about half of most drugs ($10 per hit), and with new additives giving a better euphoric high, it has become the go-to drug. However, the new additives are taking lives at a record rate. Popular actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman, is the latest casualty.

Maine is not exempt from the deadly drug. Take time and talk to your kids.
