Two Charged in Murder of Bangor Man

Two people are facing charges in connection with the murder of a Bangor man in November.

Joseph “JJ” Johnson, 30, from Old Town, and Cote Choneska, 39, from Veazie were taken to the Penobscot County Jail.

They are being held in connection with the death of 59-year-old Berton Conley, was discovered unconscious inside a smoke-filled home on 258 Essex Street.

A post-mortem examination was conducted over the weekend at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta. At the conclusion of the examination, the manner of death was determined to be homicide.
