Top-rated Local Restaurants in Bangor Offer Something for Everyone

TripAdvisor rankings are "based on the quality, recency and quantity of reviews that a business receives from users — and the consistency of those reviews over time," according to the site.
Timber is located at 22 Bass Park Boulevard at the Residence Inn by Marriott near the Cross Insurance Center on Main Street. Along with the food, a particular waitress named Dayna is mentioned in many reviews for her outstanding service. Oh, and its ice bar is open January 31, February 1, 7 and 8.
Timber Kitchen and Bar is our go-to favorite restaurant when we are driving through the area. The menu is extensive and varied and even in the winter, there's a great selection of organic produce built into the menu.

We bet you can guess the address. Known for its fine dining (and pizza!), this restaurant right in the heart of downtown Bangor has a great reputation. It also likes to post tons of photos of its customers on its social media. Seriously, check it out. You'll see someone you know.
My husband and I dined at this Farm to Table restaurant in Bangor. We got to the restaurant on the early side as we knew that reservations were are accepted. At 6:15 pm all the tables were full and there was a steady flow of people. Our waiter was attentive and our water glasses were always refilled. I had the Sea Bass and my husband had the Cordon Bleu. Both dishes were excellent with details in plating. We started out meal with a Bridgette that was on thin grilled flatbread, fresh tomatoes, pesto and shaved Romano cheese. The owner checked in with us. It was a beautiful experience.

We cross the bridge to Brewer for our next top-rated restaurant. As its name suggests, there is a brewery on the premises, and Mason's beer and food generally get high marks from TripAdvisor reviewers. [More reviews] If you've never been before, it's easy to miss the turn on Hardy Street. Don't worry. Here's a map.
Love their beer! My favorite is the Hipster Apocalypse IPA. They also have great pub food (I’ve had their pizza, burgers and grilled chicken and all were really good). They are located by the river and it gets pretty crowded in the summer months. Dogs are allowed for outdoor dining.

Yes, there is a Blaze in Bar Harbor as well, but that's another list. Blaze is located at 18 Broad Street right in West Market Square. Blaze is known for its wood-fired pizza, duck fat fries, and modern feel.
Visited with my wife, daughter and grandson for dinner. Arrived just before six and were immediately seated. By the time we left all tables were filled. Good food, great service, phenomenal selection of draft beers and ales. What more do you need?

Here's our first Mexican restaurant on the list. It's located at 697 Hogan Road near the Bangor Mall. The restaurant prides itself on its fresh ingredients and healthy options.
Really good blackened fish tacos. Everything was so good and fresh. The bartender was a red hot mess! :) Funny and witty. Go you will enjoy it!

Geaghan's is an Irish pub with a long history in Bangor. Located at 570 Main Street next to Hollywood Casino, Geaghan's offers "pub grub with an Irish flair." Oh, and if you don't now about the special reserve wings, we're telling you now.
This is a pub style super friendly place to have excellent food and great atmosphere. We were out with friends and we had prime rib which was excellent. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. The prices are fair and the place great.

Sea Dog actually has nine locations in (mostly) Maine and Florida, but it's been a staple on the Bangor waterfront since before all the development. Located at 26 Front Street on the shores of the Penobscot River, Sea Dog has its own brews and a varied menu. Let's not forget the patio in the summer.
We stopped here for lunch and had some excellent fruit beers and some great grub. Lobster Roll was fantastic and so was the Blueberry-Lemon Cake. Service was great as well! Awesome patio area!

Evenrood's is a relative newcomer to Bangor, but it's quickly developed a reputation as a spot for fine downtown dining. Located at 25 Broad Street, the restaurant has an eclectic menu with lots of original dishes. And if you and your party want a little privacy, there's always Evenrood's vault.
We've dined twice at Evenroods and really enjoyed both experiences. The blackened haddock sandwich is tasty with just the right level of spiciness. The caesar salad is perfectly dressed, and don't get me started on the scrumptious seafood chowder. Plus lovely ambience (not even too noisy) and timely service. Definitely worth checking out.

The Fiddlehead Restaurant is a popular fine dining option in downtown that has its own farm to supply produce in season. You can check out photos of the farm on the restaurant's social media. Located at 84 Hammond Street, Fiddlehead has been around for one delicious decade, and you'll notice how often the word "perfect" is used in the TripAdvisor reviews.
This was the first visit to Fiddlehead for my wife and I, catching an early dinner before a play. We live in Belfast, love restaurants, and have eaten at many of the best from Portland to Bar Harbor. To put it plainly, aside from some knock your socks off restaurants in Portland, like Central Provisions, this is the best dining experience we’ve had in Maine. Hands down. An intimate setting with a nice bar, Fiddlehead is comfortable and attractive. The service is impeccable. It is a true art to put customers at ease, relate in an easy but skillful way, and present the menu in a style that is interesting and doesn’t induce eye rolls. They do all three. If I owned a restaurant I’d hire the whole crew and triple their salary. But the real star of course is the food. Creative, locally sourced, skillfully prepared. I don’t usually order steak, thinking I can make a pretty good one myself, but my filet was the best I’ve had in a very long time. We will be back. Often.

Two words: Taco Tuesday. Las Palapas is our second Mexican restaurant on the list. In its TripAdvisor reviews, you'll often find the food and atmosphere described as authentic and the servings described as huge.
Went there on the recommendation of someone who I didn’t even know suggested it because our favorite Mexican restaurant in Orono was being remodeled. Thought it sounded good and we felt like an adventure. Well, we were not disappointed. We were so pleasantly surprised. Very authentic and the most congenital staff. Also, great Margheritas. Mine was so large that I half expected to see goldfish in it. But there were no gold fish in the first or second one. If you like good size servings, you won’t be disappointed. A return visit is very likely.
