The man who spent 20 years with the New England Patriots and won six Super Bowl championships is not pulling for them on Sunday.

When it comes to the big game, you almost always end up picking a side—even if your team isn’t in the race—but in this particular case, the choice, or surprising lack of one, has definitely caught people off guard.

During this week’s episode of the ‘Let’s Go!’ podcast with Jim Gray, Tom Brady revealed that he doesn’t have a rooting interest in the game, saying he’s simply hoping the best team wins.

Brady also added that it’s an exciting new chapter for New England, praising the Patriots’ return and the start of the Mike Vrabel era after what he called a brief hiatus.

Having won six Super Bowls with the Patriots, including three with Josh McDaniels as his offensive coordinator, and three more with Vrabel as a teammate.

While Brady says he’ll be rooting for his former teammates and coaches, he made it clear he’s focused on enjoying good football rather than directly cheering for the Patriots, appreciating strong plays, smart decisions, and overall strategy.

If there’s one clear reason Brady isn’t openly rooting for the Patriots, it’s because his role as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

With the Raiders and Brady involved in hiring Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as their next head coach, cheering against Seattle becomes a conflict of interest. Add in his role as a broadcaster with Fox, and it makes sense why Brady says he’s rooting for people, not teams, and plans to simply enjoy the game as a neutral fan.
