The Common Ground will be a Virtual Fair in 2020
MOFGA announced on Tuesday that this year's Common Ground Fair will be a virtual event.
Sarah Alexander, Executive Director of the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association revealed the decision in a media release. She says the event will still be held on the third weekend after Labor Day but will not include an on-site event, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While it's unclear, at this point, whether events of this size will be allowed by then, fair officials decided to err on the side of caution, out of respect for participants who plan all year for it.
The format is still in the planning stages, but Alexander says the goal is to find a way to continue with the fair's mission to connect Maine's organic farmers, gardeners, and consumers...'sharing knowledge, supporting our local economy, creating access to organic food, and extending MOFGA's year round work.'
Updates will be posted on MOFGA's website and on the Facebook page for the Common Ground Country Fair.
