The Bangor area could see some strong to severe thunderstorms this weekend.

The National Weather Service is warning of the possibility of servere weather this weekend. Forecasters have the Bangor area and western parts of the state listed with an elevated risk of server weather Saturday. The NWS Storm Prediction Center has a large section of the state listed at a "slight" chance for sever storms, with the remaining areas of the state listed under "marginal." Only a small section of York county is not listed with threat of severe storms.

The best chance for severe storms comes Saturday afternoon into the evening. Storms may contain small hail and gusty winds. In addition, storms and stronger showers may contain heavy downpours. Forecasters urge those with outdoor plans Saturday to keep sever weather in mind and "have a NOAA Weather Radio set to the appropriate frequencies for the season."
