Skowhegan Babysitter Admits Taking Explicit Photos of Kids
A Skowhegan man is now facing state and federal child pornography charges and admits that some of the images came from children he was babysitting.
It's every parent's nightmare, leaving their kids in the care of a stranger only to find out that person had recorded the sexual abuse of the children. 28-year-old Christopher Raiche was arrested in October, accused of uploading almost 33 images, showing the sexual abuse and exploitation of children under the age of 10.
WABI-TV reports sexually explicit photos of at least 9 of the children in roughly 60 of the photos were kids who had been left in his care. He told investigators he gained access to five of the nine by responding to online ads for childcare. The other four were the grandchildren of a coworker. Raiche also advertised online, offering childcare services.
Officials say Raiche admitted to using an email account that was used to upload the images. He says he not only took the photos, but also traded them with others online. In November, police said they believed he may have had more victims, and asked for anyone with information to come forward.
