Since moving to Maine, I have loved all of the charity events that have been hosted throughout the communities. As an avid runner, I am especially thrilled to see all of the 'various races against' events and particularly excited about Purple Iris Foundation's Pound the Pavement 5K Color Fun Run coming up on Sunday, October 6th in Bangor!

What is Pound the Pavement in Maine?

Did you know that Pound The Pavement 5K Color Fun Run/Walk/Brenda's Run was created in honor of Brenda Badger and my desire to have a 5k race as a fundraiser. Pictured below is Phil, Brenda's husband, her daughter Kelly and her husband Chris. - Purple Iris Foundation

This is the 12th annual Pound the Pavement Color Fun Run/Walk 5K, and it is untimed. At every kilometer (.6 miles). Pound the Pavement runners/walkers are doused from head to toe in a different colored powder. Participants wear white at the starting line and finish the race plastered in color.

Before the start of the Color Fun Run 5K, there is a Junior Mad Dash Run that allows kids 10 and under to participate in some of the fun, too.

These 5K color runs are a lot of fun that builds relationships and creates wonderful memories, and this specific one couldn't be for a better cause. All proceeds go to support the mission of the Purple Iris Foundation, which is to raise awareness, provide support, and give hope to individuals and families affected by cancer, in Maine.

David from David & Cindy in the morning on Q106.5 will be participating in the 5K and would love for you to run with him! If you can't attend, please donate to the team. Click here to do both, and we hope to see you October 6th!
