Portland Police Officer Tests Positive for COVID-19
The Portland Police Department has announced that one of its officers has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a post on the department's Facebook page, Portland Police Chief Frank Clark says the veteran officer is currently quarantined out of state. The officer's name was not released. The post goes on to assure residents that the force is strong and healthy, and still working to keep the city safe.
Police departments across the state have restricted access to their buildings. Anyone with an emergency should call 911, obviously. But anyone who wants information or has a non-emergency incident should call their local police department, rather than showing up at the building. It's all in an effort to stem the spread of COVID-19.
Now is the perfect time, if you haven't already, to program the number for your local police, fire, and sheriff's departments into your phone. You never know when you might need them.
