Popular Fast Food Chain in Maine to Open 900 New Restaurants

This fast food chain, with 61 locations in Maine, has recently announced plans to open nearly a thousand new restaurants within the next two years.

It’s always refreshing to hear about expansion and new jobs being created, especially in 2025 when so much of the news seems to revolve around layoffs and businesses closing their doors. It’s a nice change of pace—and a reminder that not every headline has to be doom and gloom.

So, given all of that, which popular fast food chain—with dozens of locations already here in Maine—has announced huge expansion plans?

McDonald’s just announced plans to hire 375,000 employees across the U.S. this summer, marking one of its biggest hiring pushes in years.

The move aligns with the company’s goal to open 900 new restaurants nationwide by 2027 and boost service during the busy summer season.

McDonald’s U.S. President Joe Erlinger shared the news alongside Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer at a location in Ohio. The hiring will span both company-owned and franchised locations, and comes during a broader push for business investment across the country.

We don’t have any further information yet on whether this major hiring push will affect or expand the number of McDonald’s locations here in Maine.

While this current effort is focused on the U.S., a global expansion is also in motion, with the company aiming to grow from 38,000 restaurants in over 100 countries to 50,000 worldwide by 2027.
