Pine Tree Camp Weekend Schedule Of Events
There will be fun for all ages this weekend as the Pine Tree Camp's fundraising weekend takes over Newport and Levant!
Each year, the folks at the Pine Tree Camp plan a weekend full of events to help raise the money needed to send kids to camp. With a no-child-turned-away policy, the donations cover the cost of a camper's tuition when their parents can't afford the full price. And a camp like Pine Tree is expensive to run, with medical facilities required on-site to meet the needs of the campers.
This weekend's events will include everything from an auction, to delicious food, a beauty pageant, and even fireworks! Here's the schedule:
Friday, February 3rd
Live Auction - The annual auction is being held at the Newport Armory (formerly the Sebasticook Valley Community Center) on North Street. This year's auctioneer is Fox 22's J.R. Mitchell. The preview starts at 5 p.m. and bidding begins at 6.
Saturday, February 4th
All You Can Eat Breakfast - The Hungry Hollows 76ers Snowmobile Club will host their annual all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. On the menu - eggs, pancakes, home fries, sausage, beans, donuts, fruit, toast, coffee, milk, and juice. Cost: By donation. The club is located on the Horseback Road in Levant.
Q-106.5 Celebrity Egg Ride as part of the Dysart's Pine Tree Camp Snowmobile Ride-in - Q-106.5 announcers will be joined by Maine Game Wardens, two of our listeners - Sasha Tracy and Sara Nason, the Q-106.5 Egg Ride creator - Bob Duchesne, and....well, you never know! For every $20 in total donations, each rider puts a raw egg in their snowsuit. And even if there's not enough snow to ride the trails, the eggs will go into the suits and the sleds onto flat beds, so the mess is made! We egg-up at 9:00.
Chicken Barbecue - Courtesy of P&L Market, and the Dexter and Newport Fire Departments, the dinner is held after the ride, from 11 to 1, in the Newport Armory. When you walk into the Armory, the smell will make your mouth water!
Beauty Pageant - This begins at 1:00 in the Newport Armory. Anyone interested in being a contestant needs to pre-register. The registration fee is $15. Call Chris Ayer at 368-2058 for more information.
Public Supper - For $7 per person, $4 for each child under 12, you can enjoy a main entree, salad, roll, dessert, and a drink. Hosted by Bud's Shop 'n' Save, the dinner is held form 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Newport Armory.
Awards Ceremony - The awards ceremony starts after dinner, at 6:30 p.m. in the Armory.
Fireworks! - The fireworks start at 7:30 and will be shot over the Sebasticook Lake in Newport.
