Own A Piece Of Maine Restaurant History With This Bangor Howard Johnson Sign
Still heartbroken over Ho Jo's in Bangor closing? We are too. You can mend the cracks in your heart by owning the Ho Jo's sign!
The Howard Johnson Restaurant in Bangor closed its doors for good in September 2016. It was one of two left in the country at the time. Now, the only Howard Johnson Restaurant in the country is in Lake George, New York.
The sign is being sold at This and That Resale at 202 South Main Street in Brewer.
Owner Marilyn Shaver said she bought the sign from a picker who was part of the demolition process after the beloved Bangor restaurant officially closed Sept. 6, 2016.
Each section of the sign -- the "Howard" and the "Johnson"-- is $400, she said. Plus, they are light bars, meaning they can light up! Shaver said she was unsure if the lights still worked and they may need to be refurbished.
Interested parties can stop by the shop -- although it's closed Tuesday and Wednesday -- or they may call Shaver at 852-0847.
