Orrington, Winterport Stores Close Due to Positive COVID-19 Tests
Two area convenience stores, one in Orrington and another in Winterport, closed their doors this week after people connected with the locations tested positive for COVID-19.
Bob's Kozy Korner Store in Orrington shared a post on its Facebook page on Friday, stating that the store was closing immediately. The message went on to say that a family member of an employee had tested positive for COVID-19 and that the store will be closed for a minimum of two weeks. Residents reached out with messages of support, wishing the family well, and saying that they would return to the store once it reopens.
In a follow-up post, the owners explained that none of the employees have symptoms, but they closed the store out of an abundance of caution, awaiting recommendations from the CDC.
In Winterport, R.H.Foster posted on its Facebook page that an employee at the Freshies Deli in that town had tested positive for COVID-19. The remaining employees were quarantined from the business, which was shut down temporarily, and an outside cleaning agency was brought in to clean, disinfect, and sanitize the building. A post on the store's website says that the staff was being retrained on social distancing, and a new team of crew members from another location will cover the store until the original employees can return.
