Students and staff at Nokomis Regional High will come together on Wednesday, June 25, to watch as Newport, Maine native Cooper Flagg gets drafted into the NBA, likely with the No. 1 overall pick.

The Nokomis Athletic Department posted an event flyer on Facebook, saying the high school will host a watch party from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on draft night.

"Find out what's next for Cooper Flagg, live from our hometown watch party," the flyer says.

The Bangor Daily News reports that the event is private and by invitation only.

The school district shared the event flyer on its website and said that anyone interested in attending the watch party should RSVP to watchparty@newbalance.com by June 18.

Those interested in going to the event must also sign a waiver that's available on the website.

"Join us to celebrate Cooper Flagg's amazing achievement with food, games and fun," the website says.

Flagg grew up in Newport and played for the Nokomis Warriors his freshman year of high school.

In 2022, Flagg, along with his twin brother Ace and older brother Hunter, led Nokomis to a 2022 Class A Maine state championship.

That season, he averaged 20.5 points, 10 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 3.7 steals, and 3.7 blocks per game and was named the Gatorade Maine Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

Following his freshman season, Flagg, along with his brother Ace, transferred to Florida's Montverde Academy, a national powerhouse in high school basketball.

Flagg spent two seasons at Montverde and graduated after reclassifying from the 2025 high school class to the 2024 class.

He then headed to Duke University, where he played one season of college basketball before declaring for the 2025 NBA Draft.

Flagg, 18, is now on his way to the NBA and is widely projected to be taken No. 1 overall by the Dallas Mavericks on draft night.

The watch party at Nokomis Regional High is not the only draft night event happening in Maine.

In Newport, there will be draft celebrations at Hamlin’s Marina on Sebasticook Lake and the Grove wedding venue on Stetson Road.

In Falmouth, there will be an event at Rivalries Sports Bar and Restaurant.
