Wait ... Could Bangor Soon Be Home to FOUR Starbucks Locations?

It's been a pretty big few months for Starbucks in the Bangor area.

Earlier this summer, the location at Bangor Mall Blvd. closed for a couple of months to undergo a major renovation, reopening in August.

Then news broke this week that the City of Bangor Planning Board had approved a Michigan-based development company's plans to build, among other things, a new Starbucks location on Broadway in Bangor.

When we looked into the company planning the development of that lot, AlrigUSA, we noticed they had a number of open projects they were working on in Maine listed on its website, including the site at 685 and 699 Broadway, by the busy Hannaford Shopping Center. It also listed one at 570 Stillwater Avenue. That's across the street from Chick-fil-A.

According to Anne Krieg, Bangor Planning Officer, that spot on Stillwater Ave is also being eyed as another location for a Starbucks.

"We are working on plans with them for a partial re-development of the site at 570 Stillwater. We are still in the process of doing preliminary reviews of the application so I am not sure which Planning Board meeting they will be hearing."

If that comes to pass, coffee enthusiasts will have four locations in Bangor at which to find their caffeine fix: the original Bangor Mall Blvd. location by the mall, the storefront within the Target Store on Longview Drive, the newly proposed spot on Broadway and the store being proposed for the Stillwater site.
