East Millinocket Police are investigating a fatal collision between a vehicle and a propane truck.

East Millinocket, Maine Man Killed in a New Year's Eve Crash

The name of the deceased has not been released, but officials did confirm the driver was a 28-year-old man from Millinocket.

It was approximately 7:45 am on Thursday when the East Millinocket Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a serious crash on Outer Central Street, near Rice Farm Road in Millinocket.

Millinocket, Maine Driver Dies in Collision With an Oil Truck

When First Responders arrived at the scene, they found a propane delivery truck and a sport utility vehicle that had both left the roadway and sustained extensive damage.

The driver of the SUV sustained critical injuries. Despite life-saving efforts by the Millinocket Fire Department, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

An initial investigation indicates the SUV was traveling westbound when the driver lost control on icy roads. The vehicle spun out of control and crossed into the eastbound lane, where it was struck by a propane truck.

This crash remains under investigation.
