A Massachusetts man is sentenced to 42 years in prison for the shooting death of a man on Second Street in Bangor.

The body of Israel 'Izzy' Lewis was found on the floor of his Second Street apartment by his girlfriend who was concerned after not hearing from him for a few days. Heather Knight looked through a window, when Lewis didn't answer the door, and saw his body on the floor. WVII-TV reports Knight said during the trial she was grateful that she had breakfast with Izzy on the morning of January 7th and got to hug him and tell him she loved him. Lewis was fatally shot later that day.

F Daly, of Boston, Massachusetts, had no criminal record before Lewis was killed and says that he didn't do it. However, evidence presented during the trial revealed that he confessed to his girlfriend when she found him washing a 9mm handgun with bleach. He hid the gun in the ceiling of their Ohio Street apartment, where police later found it when he was arrested a few weeks later. No motive has been given for the murder.

Defense attorneys were not happy with the 42-year sentence, saying they hoped he would get less than 40 years, adding that it was better, however, than the longer sentence requested by prosecutors.
