A man is dead after a single-vehicle crash on the turnpike in Lewiston Monday night.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the accident happened just before 9 p.m. in the northbound lane of the turnpike, near the Old Lewiston Road overpass. The vehicle struck the guardrail in the median and the driver, 31-year-old Joshua Lussier, was ejected. He was alone in the vehicle and died at the scene.

Northbound traffic was rerouted off the turnpike at exit 80 in Lewiston as troopers investigated the crash. Troopers say Lussier was traveling at a high rate of speed and was not wearing a seatbelt.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
