Man Allegedly Stole Respirators from Bangor City Hall
A man is facing charges for allegedly stealing N95 respirators from Bangor City Hall that were to be used by the city's emergency crews.
Jonathan McCue, 31, of Bangor was working at Bangor City Hall when the coronavirus protective gear went missing on Thursday. He was not an employee of the city, but worked for a company hired by the city of Bangor to clean windows. McCue is charged with felony theft.
It was reported that approximately 80 N95 facial masks, that had been allocated for City of Bangor first responders were stolen from a secure area.
McCue was taken to the Penobscot County Jail where he is currently being held without bail.
Class C theft carries with it a maximum 5-year prison term and a $5,000 fine.
He's expected to have a bail hearing today.
