A man from Penobscot County was arrested after he allegedly threatened to kill Bangor police officers early Thursday morning.

Bangor Police Sgt. Tim Cotton says officers responded to the One Stop convenience store on State Street after a cab driver reported being threatened by a man with a handgun.

Officers arrived on the scene and identified the suspect as 32-year-old Arthur Beaver.

Cotton said Beaver refused to cooperate and had to be physically subdued when he attempted to walk away from the scene.

Beaver allegedly threatened to kill the officers on the scene.

Cotton said when officers searched the suspect they found a .40 caliber handgun.

Beaver was arrested and taken to the Penobscot County Jail.

He's charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, terrorizing and refusal to submit to arrest.
