Man Accused Of Killing Bar Harbor Teen Is Also Indicted For Rape
The man charged for the murder of a Bar Harbor teenager earlier this summer is now also indicted for rape.
WABI-TV reports a grand jury this week indicted 21-year-old Jalique Keene for the rape and murder of 19-year-old Mikaela Conley in June. The State Medical Examiner said that she died of blunt force trauma and strangulation.
After Keene's arrest, his lawyer told reporters that police had a surveillance video that they were reviewing, taken from outside the Conners Emerson School. According to court documents, Keene can be seen on the video dragging her lifeless body across the playground to a wooded area, where she was eventually found.
Conley and Keene was both students at MDI High School, where Keene played football. He went on to play college ball at Virginia State University and amateur ball in Serbia, where he met the woman he eventually married. Conley could often be seen working at her parents' Bar Harbor eatery, the 2 Cats Restaurant.
Keene was arrested in 2016 for allegedly furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol.
