Maine’s Jared Golden Urges Action Against Trump Administration

The U.S. Representative for Maine's 2nd Congressional District is the latest elected official calling for answers from the Trump Administration.

For those who don’t know, Jared Golden is a Democratic politician and Marine Corps veteran who has represented Maine’s 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House since 2019.

So, with that said, why exactly is the magnifying glass on the Trump Administration, and why is Jared Golden calling for action?

Golden is calling for accountability after reports that officials from the Trump administration — including Vice President J.D. Vance — discussed military plans in a group chat that accidentally included Jeffrey Goldberg, a journalist from The Atlantic.

As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Golden described the leak as a significant security lapse.

In a statement released Monday night, he warned that service members would face ‘serious consequences’ for similar actions — and emphasized that top officials must be held to the same standard.

Goldberg says he was added to the Signal group chat by mistake, and while the app is encrypted, it’s not an approved government channel.

Though Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth denies any war plans were shared, the Trump administration admits the messages appear to be real.
