Prior to 2024, the hottest Halloween on record in Maine's capital was 69 degrees in 1956. Halloween in 2024 reached a high of 75 degrees, easily breaking the record. This is nonsensical when considering that the average for Halloweens in Maine is usually around 54 degrees.

Two weeks ago in Bangor, Maine on October 21st, the hottest record temperature from 1936 on that day was broken. On October 21st, 1936, recorded temperatures reached 72 degrees. On October 21st, 2024, the record was broken after meteorologists recorded temperatures of 75 degrees.

The Record Temperature Breaking Trend for this Fall Continued Today Throughout Maine

According to centralmaine.com, Augusta's temperatures today of 76 degrees was not only the record for today in the state capital's history since recording weather temperatures began in 1925, but also tied the record for the hottest ever for the month of November.

Portland, Maine almost hit 80 degrees today breaking all temperature records for the entire month of November once the thermostats read 79 degrees. Other smaller towns throughout Maine also saw record-breaking temperatures today. After the sun went down in Brewer, Maine this evening, temperatures were still lingering around 72 degrees.

All forecasts are indicating that a cold front is coming through this evening, and this historic run of unseasonable temperatures might be done for the year, but when it comes to Maine weather, you never really know!
