Capture a unique image on a game camera? It could win this game camera contest.

Game cameras are a must in the outdoor lover's arsenal of gear. They are a quiet, secretive eye in woods that can offer a unique perspective of the land. Sliding a freshly retrieved SD card into the computer is similar to the excitement felt by a child on Christmas morning. In addition to the enjoyment of flipping through the photos, a stellar pic could score you some notoriety.

The 2022 Maine Sportsman's Show Game Camera Contest is underway. The contest is simple:

  • Contestants can submit up to 10 images.
  • They must have been captured on a game camera.
  • Pictures must depict Maine wildlife.
  • No previously submitted images.

The top 25 images will be printed and displayed in the Art & Photography Room at the State of Maine Sportsmen's Show. The top three images will be awarded Best in Show ribbons.

We checked-over depth charts and topographic maps to find the 10 deepest lakes in Maine, as according to their maximum depth.

15 Astonishing Natural Wonders Of Maine

Take A Forbidden Look Inside Frozen Fort Knox

Fort Knox is closed for the season. While winter visitors can roam the grounds, the interior of the fort is closed off from the general public. If you browse through the photos below, you'll see why the fort is strictly off-limits until spring. That being said, we were given permission to enter the fort to create this gallery.

Again, the fort is closed from November through April. Do not attempt to enter the interior of Fort Knox. Entering the fort during the closed months is trespassing, and very dangerous.
