Robberies Were Reported In Several Maine Communities
This incident started at approximately 10:07 on Sunday when a woman called 911 from a church parking lot at 213 Federal Road in Parsonsfield to report a man who had allegedly threatened to kill her, referencing a firearm that he never displayed. The woman told authorities that as the man took off in a silver Subaru, he nearly struck a pedestrian as he headed east towards Cornish.
At roughly 10:30, Maine State Police Sergeant Daniel Hanson was flagged down on Route 25 in Cornish by someone who told them the suspect pulled a gun in the parking lot of a church in Cornish and demanded his wallet. About 45 minutes later, it was reported that the suspect entered a church in Baldwin, took money from the offering plate, and grabbed a woman's purse before fleeing the church, displaying the firearm.
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says Cumberland County Sheriff's Deputies found the suspect's vehicle near Bliss Road in Baldwin and began a pursuit, which headed south before the suspect turned around and headed in the opposite direction. Officials say the suspect was seen waving a firearm inside the vehicle during the pursuit and intentionally swerved his vehicle at other vehicles on Route 107. Fortunately, no other vehicles were hit and no one was hurt. When the suspect reached Bridgton, the police were able to disable his vehicle with a PIT maneuver. After a brief foot chase he was apprehended and taken to the hospital for evaluation. Once he's released, he will be transported to York County Jail.
In Addition to His Active Warrants, McGlone Faces Robbery Charges
McGlone had three active warrants at the time of this incident:
- Warrant out of York County for Robbery
- Warrant out of Oxford County for Probation Revocation from a prior robbery charged
- Warrant out of York County for Felony Theft
In addition to the warrants, McGlone was also charged with two counts of robbery. Officials say additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
Anyone whose vehicle may have had close contact with the subject vehicle is encouraged to contact Sergeant Dan Hanson at 624-7076.
