Maine Jr Black Bears Play at Alfond Arena Saturday
You had me at hockey.
A great game that is such a character builder especially when this is what they are doing.
Maine Junior Black Bears is a youth hockey organization, but so much more.
Here is their mission statement
Maine Junior Black Bears is a youth hockey organization in the Greater Bangor Area, providing local and travel hockey program experiences. We foster a love of the game through encouragement, education, cooperation, discipline, and development
Great words and they do so much more.
Lee Miller is the Coach of the Junior Black Bears 12 and Under hockey team and says
Every year I try to find a project that gives back to our community while also teaching my players how to be good citizens.
This year, each player on the team has been assigned a gold star soldier. The players have learned about their soldier and have written a letter to his/her family.
‘
Further the players are honoring their gold star soldier by wearing their soldier’s name on one of their hockey jerseys this year.
The MJBB 12U team will be selling wreaths to place on soldiers’ graves and will be laying wreaths on Saturday the 17th at Togus in Augusta at 1130am.
Then at 5 p.m. on Saturday back at Alfond Arena there will be a hockey game in honor of these gold star soldiers
It would be great to go out to support these young players and their great endeavor.
Last word form Coach Miller
We would like to get other teams to Find a Way to Serve.
Great idea. Let’s make giving back a bigger part of youth hockey.
