Maine Police Arrest 5 People In Series Of Drug Busts
Two people from Maine and three from New York are facing charges after drug busts in several towns.
Search Warrants in 3 Maine Towns Netted Five Arrests
The arrests were made after the execution of search warrants in Chesterville, Waldoboro, and Windsor and include:
- Jared Campbell, 21, of Staten Island, New York, who's charged with one count of trafficking schedule W drugs. Bail was set at $2,500 cash, which he was able to post.
- Cristian Sanchez Ortega, 22, of Manhatten, New York, who is charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking schedule W drugs and one count of unlawful trafficking schedule W drugs. Bail was set at $10,000. Ortega is currently being held at Kennebec Correctional Facility in Augusta.
- Jordan Campbell, 20, of Manhattan, New York, who is charged with one count of unlawful trafficking schedule W drugs. Bail was set at $10,000. Campbell is currently being held at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility.
- Lacy Dougher, 36, of Chesterville, Maine, who was arrested on four outstanding arrest warrants for failure to appear. No bail is allowed for Dougher and she is currently being held at the Franklin County Jail.
- Tim Murray, 44, of Chesterville, Maine, who was arrested on one count of trafficking schedule W drugs and violation probation. Murray is being held without bail and is currently incarcerated at the Franklin County Jail.
Officials seized drugs, a loaded handgun, and suspected drug proceeds during the searches.
Drugs and Firearms Were Seized, As Well As a Vehicle Suspected in a NYC Crime
The charges stem from a months-long investigation that focused on the alleged illegal sale of drugs by Ortega and the two Campbells. Agents conducted surveillance, made undercover purchases of drugs, and executed three search warrants in the past week in Chesterville, Waldoboro, and Windsor, Maine. Seized during those search warrants were:
- 72 grams of fentanyl
- 15 grams of cocaine base
- 2 loaded handguns
- Suspected drug proceeds which included recorded buy money
Police also seized a vehicle that was wanted in New York for a shooting that happened in New York City.
