A 4-foot ball python that slithered away from its Orrington home in July has been found alive.

WLBZ reports the pet snake named Mr. Smithers was found by Karen Ramsey, owner of Ledgewood Greenhouses.

"We were just cleaning up outside around the greenhouse," Ramsey told WLBZ. "I went to step behind a bench and looked down and there he was I almost stepped on him."

Valerie Nason, Mr. Smithers' owner, had feared that her pet had died. When the snake disappeared from Nason's home on Johnson Mill Road, Nason said the nights may be too cold for Mr. Smithers, and that was back in July.

Nason says she's glad to be reunited with the snake, and so far, he appears to be doing okay.
