Literacy Volunteers Of Bangor Looking For Book Donations For Jail Library
Have some gently used books you're willing to part with? Donate them.
The Bangor Public Library is partnering with Literacy Volunteers of Bangor and the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office to give inmates at the country jail more reading material. They say the jail library needs to be "spruced up," so they're asking for the public's help in doing so.
The books need to be soft cover, and gently used.
Particular titles and authors being requested are:
- "Writing my Wrongs: life, death & redemption in an American Prison" by Shaka Senghor
- "Dopefiend" by Donald Goines
- "House of Night" Series (12 books) by P.C. Cast
- "Impulse" (series) by Ellen Hopkins
- Any books by V.C. Andrews or James Patterson
Donations are being collected by Literacy Volunteers on the Eastern Maine Community College campus. They ask that you call ahead before stopping by with your donation. Literacy Volunteers can be reached at 947-8451.
