When Lewiston Police were investigating a report of gunfire, they found a deceased teen in the road.

Police Say the Victim Was Only 17 Years Old

The victim has been identified as Sahal Muridi, 17, of Lewiston.

A 911 Call for Shots Fired Led Police to Discover Mr. Murdi

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says the Lewiston Police Department received a 911 call for shots fired on Sunday. When they responded to 77 Rideout Avenue, they saw Muridi in the road, who had passed away before they arrived.

Witnesses told authorities that they saw a silver Mercedes fleeing the scene, as well as a black Dodge Challenger with a temporary Maine registration plate. Police say the driver of the Mercedes has been identified and is cooperating with investigators.

Maine's Chief Medical Examiner Will Determine Cause of Death

Mr. Muridi's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death. This investigation is ongoing.
