
Jayson Tatum Assigned to Maine Celtics
The NBA champion and six-time NBA All-Star has been assigned to the Boston Celtics’ G League affiliate in Portland.
One of the most impactful injuries in sports over the past year was Jayson Tatum’s torn Achilles on May 12th, 2025, and after months of questions surrounding his recovery, it finally feels like we’re starting to get some real answers.

On the evening of Monday, February 9th, it was announced that the Boston Celtics are assigning Tatum to practice with their G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics.
The Maine Celtics play their home games at the James A. Banks Sr. Portland Exposition Building in Portland.

In a statement, Boston said Tatum will take part in portions of practice at the Auerbach Center in Boston alongside teammates Hugo Gonzalez and Amari Williams.
Gonzalez and Williams have also been assigned to the team’s affiliate. After the session, Tatum will be recalled by the Celtics to continue his rehab, though the team did not provide any additional details on a timeline for his return.

And there you have it! While the current timeline for his return to the TD Garden floor isn’t set in stone, he is getting reps with the team that plays in Portland in the meantime.
