The Dallas Mavericks rookie and Maine native has been invited to participate in NBA All-Star Weekend—but what will he be doing?

One of the most exciting weekends on the basketball calendar is NBA All-Star Weekend, packed with fun challenges and competitions featuring the league’s biggest stars, and while this marks the first appearance for the Newport native, it certainly feels like it won’t be his last.

Cooper Flagg will take part in the 2026 Rising Stars tournament after being selected in the first round by honorary coach Carmelo Anthony.

Joining Flagg in the series of games are fellow rookies Kon Knueppel and VJ Edgecombe, who were selected by Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter.

In the Rising Stars tournament, the four teams will compete in two semifinal matchups, with the winners advancing to the championship game.

The semifinals will be decided by the first team to reach or surpass 40 points, and the title game will go to the first team to reach or surpass 25 points.

The Rising Stars tournament will stream live on Peacock, with coverage beginning at 9 p.m. EST following the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, which tips off at 7 p.m. EST.

Many events during NBA All-Star Weekend are being held at the new Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, which opened in 2024 and serves as the home court for the Los Angeles Clippers.
