Paris Olympics

It's crazy to think that another four years (well, technically, three, since the last Summer Olympics were held in 2021 because of you-know-why) have already passed, and we're on the brink of another few weeks of the world's best competing head-to-head for their country's bragging rights.

The opening ceremonies for the Paris Olympics are on the way on Friday, July 26.

Maine Olympics Opening Ceremonies

In fact, speaking of those opening ceremonies, it just so happens that Maine has a couple of prominent tie-ins during Team USA's entrance.

According to NEWS CENTER Maine, Polo Ralph Lauren has contracted with Rogue Industries in Standish to manufacture the leather tab near the buckles on belts worn by Team USA during the opening ceremonies, as well as Rancourt & Co. in Lewiston, to create the footwear that Team USA will wear during the opening ceremonies.

Otherwise, surprisingly, according to USA Today, Maine does not have any athletic representation in the 2024 Olympic Games.

Related to that, unfortunately, is a study that recently came out naming Maine as one of the least performing states in the country when it comes to bringing home a gold medal during the Olympics.

For what it's worth, though, that same study also grouped New Hampshire, Vermont, and Rhode Island into the same group as states representing Team USA that have not brought home gold medals.

So, that's where this list comes in.

Maine Olympic Events

Regardless of what the stats say, Maine has amazing athletes. Look no further than Cooper Flagg, who is taking the basketball world by storm as you read this.

That said, if certain events were Olympic events, Maine would set a world record for the amount of gold medals won.
